Wood Street Market in Walthamstow was originally built as the Crown Cinema, in 1912. It was run by the Penny Theatre Picture Co. until 1955, when it was turned into a market and has remained so ever since. It’s one of those places where you need to have a rummage, but if you dig deep you’ll find a diverse mixture of hidden treasure. Everything from vintage designer dresses & accessories, rare vinyl records (as well as shellac 78’s), impossible to find Japanese toys, football programmes and celebrity autographs. There’s a cake making service, handmade greetings cards, designer electrical shop, knitting shop and lots more!
Highlights: Bunty Olsen, for amazing vintage clothes and accessories. Gigi’s Dressing Room, for Designer vintage clothes, accessories and dress hire. Mike’s Record Shop, for a great collection of 60’s, 70’s & 80’s vinyl. Toy Shack, for weird and wonderful action figures from the ’80s, ’90s & noughties.
