Stanley Green roamed the West End of London for over 25 years. Carrying his placard and booklets (12p each), he was one of London’s genuine eccentrics, with a mission to educate the world about his own philosophy on eating protein, education, married life and sitting! At 16 years old, this was one of the first photographs I ever took. Whilst on my way to photograph a football match for Fulham FC’s newspaper, I jumped off the Routmaster bus at Oxford Circus and (using a Pentax 35mm film camera), managed to take a few shots, buy the pamphlet (pictured below) and jump back on the same bus before the lights changed. Stanley sadly passed away in 1993, but his placard and pamphlets are now on display in the Museum of London.
