My recent shoot at Leytonstone’s very own cafe / bar / bookshop ‘All You Read Is Love’ published as a two page feature in this months E-List magazine (Pages 30 & 31 below). Run by Danish siblings Karen & Anders, the cafe provides a range of teas, coffees, cocktails and food, as well as selling books and vinyl. This year our garden has really started to bloom. All the hard work is finally paying off and it’s time to snip a few cheeky stems for the kitchen table. Couldn’t resist firing off a few shots of these beauties, with pink roses, foxgloves and a couple of sprigs of rosemary looking so enticing in the soft evening light…
BOLTS, NUTS, WASHERS & SCREWS… This has to be my favourite shop in the world. From the moment that my Granddad first took me in to Wakefield when I was just six years old, I was hooked. Wood Street Market in Walthamstow was originally built as the Crown Cinema, in 1912. It was run by the Penny Theatre Picture Co. until 1955, when it was turned into a market and has remained so ever since. It’s one of those places where you need to have a rummage, but if you dig deep you’ll find a diverse mixture of hidden treasure. Stanley Green roamed the West End of London for over 25 years. Carrying his placard and booklets (12p each), he was one of London’s genuine eccentrics, with a mission to educate the world about his own philosophy on eating protein, education, married life and sitting! A collection of photographs of grooms waiting for brides. I’ve shot over 300 weddings during my career and I never tire of the tense anticipation that precedes every ceremony. Nerves almost always appear in the faces of even the most confident of men during those moments just before their future wives walk down the aisle. Pure photographic gold!
